Jonesborough was buzzing with excitement on November 27, as high school basketball tournaments heated up in the area. Several teams took to the courts at the Hardee’s, Food City, and Valley Forge tournaments, showcasing their skills and determination.
In a tightly contested game, Cocke County battled against Daniel Boone, managing to pull off a narrow win with a final score of 48-43. It was a hard-fought match that kept fans on the edge of their seats right down to the final whistle.
Meanwhile, at the same time, David Crockett faced a tough challenge from West Ridge. In a thrilling encounter, they emerged victorious with a score of 71-67, showing resilience and teamwork throughout the game.
Over in Bluff City at the Food City Classic, West Ridge shined as Grant Thompson led his team to a win, scoring an impressive 27 points against Kachea, finishing the game at 65-55. Additionally, Tennessee High had a strong showing against Happy Valley, blowing them out with a score of 88-47. Colin Brown stood out for Tennessee, contributing 24 points to the decisive victory.
In the Valley Forge tournament, the excitement continued as Unicoi County defeated Unaka with a score of 50-37, showing their dominance on the court. Also noteworthy was Happy Valley, who pulled off a close win over Cedar View Christian, edging them out with a score of 37-33.
As the season progresses, teams are looking to build on their performances and secure their spots in the upcoming playoffs. Exciting times are ahead for high school basketball fans in the region!
