Community Mourns the Loss of Arthur Paul Wilson
Newberry, South Carolina – A wave of sorrow and remembrance swept through the community as news broke of the passing of Arthur Paul Wilson. The beloved resident of Newberry left us on October 18, 2024, at the Agape House of Lexington. With a heart of gold and an undeniable spirit, Mr. Wilson will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Life Remembered
Born in Newberry to the late James S. Wilson and the late Azalea Long Wilson, Arthur lived a life filled with love and hard work. He was deeply involved in his community, attending Mt. Olive AME Church in nearby Kinards, South Carolina, where he was a familiar, smiling face to many.
As a self-employed landscaper, Arthur had a talent for transforming outdoor spaces into beautiful landscapes. His passion for his work showed in every lawn he cared for, making his clients’ homes not just places to live, but havens of beauty. Friends and family often recalled his knack for making things grow, not just in the garden but in the relationships he nurtured with those around him.
Family Bonds
Arthur’s family was everything to him. He is survived by his cherished children, Leslie M. Wilson and Paul L. Wilson, both of Clinton, South Carolina. The family isn’t just limited to his children; Arthur had a deep and abiding connection with his siblings. He was predeceased by a grandson, Nor’eon Wilson, and sisters Catherine Muhammad and Dorothy Gallman. His legacy lives on through his immediate and extended family, including:

- Linda Wilson – Sister from North Carolina
- Sheila Wilson – Sister from Spartanburg, SC
- Phillip Wilson – Brother from Ohio
- Calvin, Steve, Otis Wilson – Brothers from Newberry, SC
- Bruce Wilson – Brother from Laurens, SC
- Willie Ray Wilson – Brother currently in Africa
- Ny’yere Wilson – Grandson
- Aneria K. Wilson – Granddaughter
Arthur also leaves behind a multitude of relatives and friends who will forever remain grateful for the memories they shared.
A Farewell Celebration
The community is coming together to honor Mr. Wilson’s remarkable life. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. All who were touched by Arthur’s vibrant spirit are welcome to attend and share their heartfelt tributes.
