Exciting Changes in Chapin and Dutch Fork Schools!
Chapin and Dutch Fork, two vibrant communities in South Carolina, are buzzing with excitement! Lexington-Richland School District Five has just appointed two new principals, marking an important moment for both schools as they prepare to embark on fresh journeys.
Welcome Amy Sgorrano to Chapin Elementary School
First up, letโs talk about Chapin Elementary School, where Amy Sgorrano takes on the role of principal. As she steps into this new position, she is taking over from Jesse Hutchinson, who will be enjoying some well-deserved retirement at the end of this school year. Sgorrano is absolutely thrilled and feels honored to have the chance to lead. Her vision? Creating a nurturing, inspiring, and enriching environment for students!
Amy isnโt new to Chapin. In fact, she has a strong connection with the community and has previously served as an assistant principal at Chapin Elementary. Before that, she was an administrative assistant principal over at Ballentine Elementary School. With 20 years of teaching experience under her belt, sheโs more than ready to tackle this challenge. Sgorrano holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Level Education from the State University of New York and a masterโs degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. It sounds like she has the perfect combination of passion and expertise!
Chief Academic Officer Tina McCaskill praised Sgorrano for her dedication to the students and staff, citing her passion and experience as key components for success in this new role. With a principal of her caliber, parents and students can look forward to great things on the horizon!
The New Era at Dutch Fork High School
Next, we have Reed Gunter, who has been appointed as the new principal of Dutch Fork High School. He takes the reins from Dr. Gerald Gary, who has moved on to become the Chief Operations Officer for the district. Gunter isnโt starting from scratch, though! Heโs been serving as the interim principal since February and has a great understanding of what makes Dutch Fork tick.
With a background as an assistant principal both at Dutch Fork High School and Dutch Fork Middle, Gunter comes equipped with a wealth of experience. He has spent ten years as a middle school English Language Arts teacher and has even coached varsity lacrosse! Gunter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education, along with a masterโs degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. He also boasts a second masterโs degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, making him well-rounded and prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
Just like with Sgorrano, McCaskill expressed her excitement for Gunterโs leadership at Dutch Fork, highlighting his deep understanding of the schoolโs culture and needs. With two new leaders at the helm, both Chapin Elementary and Dutch Fork High School are gearing up for a bright future!
A Bright Future on the Horizon
As these two talented educators prepare to steer their respective schools into new chapters of success, parents, teachers, and students are buzzing with anticipation. The official announcements have already been shared through school communications, and the community is rallying in support of these fresh faces.
Keep your ears open, Chapin and Dutch Fork! Exciting times are just around the corner for these amazing schools. With Sgorrano and Gunter leading the way, the future looks bright, promising, and full of opportunities for everyone involved!
