Activities

Newberry is a charming small town in South Carolina with a rich history and culture. It’s located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is home to a variety of attractions, including historic sites, parks, and outdoor activities.

The town’s historic downtown district is a great place to start your exploration. Here you’ll find the Newberry Opera House, a beautifully restored theater that hosts a variety of performances throughout the year. You can also visit the Newberry County Museum to learn about the town’s history, or take a walk through the Wells Japanese Garden.

If you’re looking for something to do outdoors, Newberry has plenty of options. You can go for a hike in Lynch’s Woods Park, or take a bike ride on the Enoree River Trail. There are also several golf courses in the area, and you can go fishing or kayaking on the Enoree River.

FESTIVALS

Newberry Oktoberfest

A free festival that celebrates German heritage. The festival includes German food, Biergartens, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, community organizations, classic cars, and children’s activities. The festival is held annually on the first Saturday in October and has attracted over 20,000 people.

Newberry Christmas

 A holiday event with music, a message from the mayor, a tree lighting, faux snow, and crafts. The Newberry Downtown Development Association also hosts a Cookie Walk from 4-8pm on Main Street before and after the tree lighting.

Newberry Juneteenth

A street festival that celebrates freedom with Black owned businesses, cuisine, arts, entertainment, and history.

Newberry Pork in the Park

A Southern Barbecue Network sanctioned event with barbecue from across the southeast, live music, and kids inflatables and activities.

57th Annual Jazz Festival

One of the oldest jazz festivals in the nation, held at Newberry College.
