Lake Stevens and Edmonds-Woodway Shine in Volleyball and Tennis Matches
Lake Stevens showcased their strength on the volleyball court with a decisive 3-1 victory over Lynnwood on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The match had scores of 25-22, 25-8, 27-29, and 25-20. Laura Eichert led Lake Stevens with an impressive performance, notching 31 kills, 15 digs, and an ace. Jayci Scrivens also contributed with 14 kills, 11 digs, and 2 aces.
Lynnwood’s standout player, Sammy Holmer, managed 14 kills along with 2 aces and 8 digs. Ady Morgan supported the team with 24 assists and 3 aces. This victory improved Lake Stevens to a record of 4-2 while Lynnwood holds a record of 3-3.
Lynnwood will look to bounce back in their next match against Shorewood on Thursday, October 3, at 7:15 p.m. at Lynnwood High School.
In other matches, Edmonds-Woodway maintained a perfect record, defeating Mountlake Terrace 3-1 with scores of 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, and 25-16. Sawyer Hiatt led the charge for Edmonds-Woodway with 18 kills and 4 digs, while Mountlake Terrace’s Sarah Simula put in a solid effort with 8 kills and 1 assist.
With this win, Edmonds-Woodway’s record stands at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the league. They will face Meadowdale next on Wednesday, October 2, at 7 p.m.
Furthermore, Archbishop Murphy faced off against Meadowdale, winning convincingly 3-0 with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-14. Laura Esping was a bright spot for Archbishop Murphy, contributing 6 kills and 13 assists.
As for tennis, Edmonds-Woodway played against Lynnwood, winning 5-2 in singles and doubles matches. Steven Anderson and Nalu Akiona both won their matches without dropping a game, while Lynnwood’s Victor Nguyen earned a tough victory in three sets.
