In the vibrant city of Augusta, a momentous milestone has been achieved as the beloved high school baseball coach Terrry Holder has been inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. This honor is no surprise to those who have followed Holder’s illustrious career, especially considering he holds the title for being the very first coach to rack up 500 wins in the history of Georgia high school baseball. Holder, who was part of the 69th Hall of Fame class, has made an undeniable impact on the sport throughout his coaching journey, particularly during his remarkable tenure at Evans High School. Under his guidance, numerous baseball teams impressed fans by securing spots in the national rankings, with several even making it to the top 10! Talk about athletic prowess!
But Holder’s achievements don’t stop there. At Greenbrier High School, he took coaching to a whole new level, leading three consecutive baseball teams to clinch the coveted state championship title! Over a span of 12 years at both Evans and Greenbrier, Holder celebrated a whopping total of eight state championships. That’s a legacy worth applauding!
In addition to his baseball accolades, it’s noteworthy to mention that Holder has held a dual role as the athletic director at Greenbrier High School since 1996, positively impacting the school’s entire sports program. His expertise extended well beyond the baseball diamond, as he also shone as the head football coach. It’s clear that Holder’s commitment to shaping young athletes didn’t just stop at baseball.
