High School Sports Roundup: September 25

Baltimore had a busy day on the sports front Wednesday, September 25, with several high school teams taking to the field, court, and track. Here’s a quick look at the top action from the day.

Football Highlights

The football teams put on an impressive display this week. In a thrilling matchup, City High faced off against Townsville High, ending with a score of 28-14 in favor of City High. The standout player was junior quarterback Jake Turner, who threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. Fans cheered as City High’s defense made several key stops, keeping Townsville from gaining any momentum.

Soccer Updates

On the soccer fields, the girls’ teams also showed their skills. Westview High defeated Northside High with a final score of 3-1. The team’s captain, Emily Sanchez, led the charge with two goals, helping her team secure another victory. Meanwhile, the boys’ teams saw Harbor School and Coastal Academy battle it out in a nail-biter that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Volleyball News

In volleyball, Eastside High hosted Riverside High and took home a 3-0 win. The crowd was electrified as the Eastside girls showcased their teamwork and skills. Key player for Eastside was senior Sarah Lee, who led with ten kills and served up several aces throughout the match.

Cross Country Results

In cross-country action, the Regional Meet saw students from various schools competing fiercely. Sophomore runner Alex Chen from Mountain High finished first among the boys, while junior Sarah Lopez from Valley High claimed victory for the girls. Both runners will be moving on to the state championships, representing their schools proudly.

As the fall sports season continues, high school athletes are definitely giving their all on the fields, courts, and tracks. Be sure to catch the next games and support our talented youth as they strive for greatness!
