Though he spent part of his childhood in nearby Newberry, Charlotte, and Hanahan, Blythewood remained his home. Travis graduated from Blythewood High School before pursuing his passion for history at Newberry College. He later earned a Master’s degree in history education from the University of South Carolina, where he honed his skills as an educator.
