Newberry — Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. has taken a significant step in expanding its business by acquiring the assets of ISE America, Inc. for an estimated $110 million. This deal will be funded using cash that the company already has available.
The assets that Cal-Maine has acquired from ISE America include various commercial shell egg production and processing facilities. These facilities have the capacity to manage around 4.7 million laying hens, which includes one million cage-free hens and 1.2 million pullets (young hens). This acquisition also includes feed mills and approximately 4,000 acres of land, along with inventories and an egg products breaking facility.
Additionally, ISE’s customer distribution network covers a substantial part of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The production facilities are located in several states including Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and South Carolina.
“We are excited about the opportunity to significantly enhance our market reach in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states with the acquisition,” stated Sherman Miller, the president and CEO of Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. He emphasized that this acquisition will enable the company to serve new customers and expand its capacity, particularly in areas where Cal-Maine has not had a strong presence before.
For Cal-Maine Foods, this marks the first time they have acquired production assets in Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware. Miller expressed confidence in ISE’s long-standing reputation in the egg production business, saying, “ISE has a long history in the egg production business and enjoys a solid reputation in the marketplace. We will continue to honor this important legacy.”
Miller also mentioned that the integration of ISE’s operations into Cal-Maine Foods’ existing framework will be a priority, highlighting the company’s strong track record of successfully managing operations they have acquired in the past.
“We welcome the dedicated ISE operations team to the Cal-Maine Foods family and look forward to a successful integration,” he added. Miller believes that through this collaboration, they have a unique opportunity to provide better value to both customers and shareholders alike.
This acquisition comes at a time when many companies in the agricultural sector are looking to strengthen their supply chains and expand their market influence. By purchasing ISE America, Cal-Maine Foods is positioning itself to better serve customers across a broader geographical area and to tap into new markets that it has not been fully able to access before.
As Cal-Maine Foods moves forward with integrating ISE America’s assets and operations, industry experts will be watching closely to see how this acquisition contributes to the company’s growth and success in the highly competitive food production industry.
This strategic move is a clear indication that Cal-Maine Foods aims to be a dominant player in the egg production market while continuing to adapt to changing consumer demands and expanding its operational capacity.
