Celebrating Callie Wilbanks: Region 3-AA Player of the Year!

Prosperity, S.C. — In the heart of local sports, we have some exciting news to share! Senior Callie Wilbanks of Mid-Carolina High School has been named the Player of the Year for Region 3-AA. This remarkable achievement reflects not only Wilbanks’ skill and dedication on the volleyball court but also her determination and hard work over the years.

A Season to Remember

This season has been quite a journey for the Rebels, finishing with a respectable 16-9-2 record in regular play. While they were the runner-ups in the region, they had to face two tough losses against Clinton, especially in the final stretch of the regular season. “We fought hard, and even though the losses were tough, they prepared us for what’s next,” said Wilbanks, reflecting on the challenges the team faced this year.

Hard Work Pays Off

For Callie, being recognized as the region player of the year is not just an award; it’s a testament to her relentless work ethic. “It means so much. I worked so hard in the off-season for the past four years. If you would’ve told me as a freshman that I’d be region player of the year and playing in six rotations, I would have not believed you,” she shared with heartfelt emotion.

Wilbanks’ growth over the years has been remarkable. From her early days as a newcomer, she has shaped her skills to become a pivotal player not only in volleyball but also in other sports.

A Multi-Sport Athlete

Beyond volleyball, Callie is making waves in the basketball and track and field teams as well. Recently, she showcased her talents in track, becoming the state runner-up and the region champion in girls discus throw in 2024. “I love competing and being part of these teams. Each sport has its own challenges and thrills,” she mentioned, clearly enjoying the diversity of her athletic pursuits.

Looking Ahead

As the volleyball playoffs approach, we can’t help but feel a sense of excitement for what’s next for Callie and her team. With her impressive skills and leadership, there is no doubt they will put up an inspiring performance. “I’m excited for the playoffs. We aim to give it our all and make our school proud,” Callie added.

Community Support

The community around Prosperity is rallying behind the Mid-Carolina Rebels, proud of their achievements and rooting for them in the playoffs. With athletes like Callie Wilbanks leading the charge, it’s an exciting time for local sports.

So here’s to Callie Wilbanks and the Mid-Carolina volleyball team! With their dedication and hard work, the future looks bright. Good luck in the playoffs, and may you continue to inspire others as you have done throughout your high school career!
