Winnsboro, SC – A community came together last Sunday, May 5, 2024, to mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Diamond Dom’Unique Kennedy. Friends, family, and loved ones had the opportunity to gather and remember the vibrant spirit that Diamond brought into their lives.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Diamond was the daughter of Genel Gary Kennedy and the late Marcus Lajuan Kennedy. Her journey through life was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. An active member of the St. Matthew Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Diamond was known for her kindness and warmth, making an impact on everyone she met.
Diamond entered into Eternal Rest far too early, at the age of 22. She was a dedicated student and proud graduate of Newberry High School, having previously attended Fairfield Central High School. Her passion for learning and her bright personality were evident to all who crossed her path.
The loss is felt deeply not only by her mother, Genel, but also by her loving boyfriend James Wilson from Newberry, SC. Together they shared dreams, hopes, and cherished memories. Diamond also leaves behind her siblings Robert, Marcus, and Deshawn Kennedy, who all continue to treasure the bond they had with her.
The heartache is compounded with the loss of several family members who had also passed before her, including her father Marcus, as well as her grandparents and two uncles. Yet, her legacy continues to live on through those who remain, including her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family has made it clear just how much Diamond meant to them, stating, “Those left to cherish her memories also include her nephews Jaxon, Liam, Lucas, and Layton, and niece Scarlett. Each one of them carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts.” Her vast network of relatives and friends creates a community rich with memories of her joyful laughter and love for life.
In true celebration of her vibrant life, a Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. This service will be a special time for all who loved Diamond to come together, share stories, and support one another as they navigate their grief.
For those looking to express their love and condolences further, arrangements have been put in place for floral tributes in memory of Diamond. This heartfelt gesture is just one way people are coming together to honor her legacy.
Grief is an intensely personal journey, and if you or someone you love is struggling during this difficult time, it’s essential to seek support. Many people find comfort in talking to others who have experienced similar losses or even to professionals who can offer guidance on the healing process. Remember, it’s okay to feel whatever you’re feeling; it’s part of the natural progression of grief.
For a year, complimentary daily grief messages are available for anyone needing a little extra support as they cope. This initiative serves as a reminder that no one is alone in their struggles, and those feelings can be shared and processed together.
As the community prepares for the upcoming service, the legacy of Diamond Dom’Unique Kennedy will surely resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Let us come together to honor her memory and the beautiful impact she had on us all.
