In the picturesque town of Chapin, South Carolina, the construction industry is not just about bricks and mortar for Chad and Caroline Lindler; it’s about family and community. Owning and operating Chapin Commercial Construction, the Lindlers have made a name for themselves as dedicated and trustworthy contractors, enriching their hometown through various projects since they started the business in 2018.
Being a family-owned business means everything to the Lindlers. “Local and family-owned” is more than just a marketing strategy for them; it reflects their commitment to the community they hold dear. Both Chad and Caroline grew up in Chapin, attended local schools, and even returned to raise their own children in the same community they love. This deep-rooted connection gives them pride in their work, as they help shape the ever-growing towns of Chapin and Lexington.
With expansive expertise in commercial construction, Chapin Commercial Construction has taken on a mix of projects, from retail stores and car dealerships to fitness centers and houses of worship. Their ability to oversee varying projects stems from their design-build approach. This method streamlines the construction process by merging architectural design with general contractor services. It’s a game-changer for clients who may not know how to get started.
“Some clients come to us with a clear vision, while others need more guidance,” Chad shares. “We enjoy helping individuals and businesses bring their ideas to life.” Whether it’s building a restaurant or a spa, they pride themselves on tailoring every project to suit specific needs.
The Lindlers’ story together began in preschool, and their solid relationship translates into their business practices. “We’ve known each other since we were three years old,” Caroline reminisced. “Chad’s the construction brain, and I focus on the finances. It’s a great balance.” Their strong partnership extends to their professional life, where they focus on cultivating relationships with clients, ensuring smooth and enjoyable construction journeys.
Their impact on the community can be seen through several completed projects, including notable builds like the Heavy Iron Cranes headquarters and Saluda River Baptist Church. Levy Brack, the vice president of Heavy Iron Cranes, praised Chapin Commercial Construction for their exceptional communication and work ethic during their project. “I couldn’t have chosen a better contractor,” he noted.
Currently, the Lindlers are finishing up projects like the new Aquarius Spa in downtown Chapin and Club Pilates, while also taking on exciting ventures like the expansion of Whitaker Funeral Home. Each task showcases their ability to adapt and cater to a wide range of client needs.
Like many businesses, the Lindlers faced hurdles during the COVID-19 pandemic, including supply chain issues and skilled labor shortages. “Finding reliable workers is tough, but we have an amazing team of subcontractors,” Chad explained.
Despite these challenges, the construction scene in Chapin and Lexington has been booming, largely fueled by new residents flocking to the area. Caroline noted, “While growth brings its challenges, it’s also beneficial! We get to provide services that local residents used to have to travel to Columbia to access. It’s exciting to see the development.”
As a husband-and-wife team, balancing work and family time is vital. They emphasize the importance of maintaining open communication while setting boundaries for work and family. “We’re intentional about scheduling time to unplug and spend time together,” Caroline said. “Even if we have to work during family vacations, we make sure to carve out quality moments.”
Beyond their business operations, the Lindlers stay connected to their community through volunteer opportunities. They dedicate time each year to support Camp Kemo, a summer camp for children, sharing their love and dedication for their community with their children alongside them.
With a strong foundation of family values, community involvement, and unwavering dedication to their craft, the Lindlers show no signs of slowing down. As they continue to build, not just homes and businesses, but lasting relationships, Chad and Caroline truly embody what it means to be leaders in their community.
