Chapin Police Department Receives Agency Trilogy Award for Leadership Excellence

Chapin Police Department Recognized with Prestigious Agency Trilogy Award

Chapin, SC – Great news has just rolled in for the Chapin community! Today, the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) announced that the Chapin Police Department has officially earned the coveted Agency Trilogy Award. This award highlights their recent completion of a state-of-the-art training program aimed at enhancing public safety leadership and management.

This honor is especially meaningful as the Chapin Police Department is now the second agency in South Carolina to receive it! What does this award signify? Well, it’s all about really committing to strong leadership within the law enforcement community and for the folks they serve. Who wouldn’t be excited about that?

Training That Makes a Difference

The achievement comes on the heels of the department’s command staff successfully completing a three-part leadership series. This series isn’t just about traditional policing practices; it dives deep into various best practices surrounding diversity and inclusion, bias, public trust, and even transformational leadership. They also focused on social and emotional intelligence—skills that are crucial when interacting with the community.

In the words of Chief Thomas W. Griffin, “We are proud to receive the Agency Trilogy Award. It is a testament to our dedication to building strong leadership values throughout our department and within the community we serve.” It’s refreshing to see such commitment to continuous development—how amazing is it that they value the growth of each officer?

A Program with a Purpose

The Agency Trilogy Award isn’t just handed out; it’s awarded to law enforcement agencies that show excellent leadership skills that promise to uplift both their departments and local communities. Jacques S. Battiste, the Executive Director of FBI-LEEDA, also praised the Chapin Police, stating, “Their outstanding leadership and exemplary management have set a high standard.” This underscores just how important cohesive leadership is to public safety.

Since the award’s conception, a total of 151 law enforcement organizations have been recognized for their excellence in leadership after completing the Command Leadership Institute, the Supervisor Leadership Institute, and the Executive Leadership Institute. Talk about a track record!

More Than Just Training

The courses provided by FBI-LEEDA aren’t just lectures—they feature seasoned law enforcement professionals who customize their lessons to the needs of the participants. These experienced leaders bring a wealth of knowledge to their teachings, ensuring that each course is relevant and practical.

FBI-LEEDA isn’t just about the award; they offer over 450 in-person training classes every year, touching on important topics like media relations, internal affairs, and leadership integrity. With over 10,000 active members, it’s an impressive organization focused on developing law enforcement practices.

All of this goes to show that the Chapin Police Department is taking positive steps toward a safer and more inclusive community. They are investing in their officers’ training and, by extension, the well-being of the entire Chapin area. Whether you’re in Lexington, Lake Murray, or the surrounding communities of Pine Ridge, Red Bank, or even Three Fountains, this development speaks volumes about the ongoing commitment to public safety.

Wrapping It Up

With the Chapin Police Department leading the charge in sound leadership training and community engagement, the community can look forward to a stronger relationship with their local law enforcement. It’s certainly a fantastic time to be part of Chapin, SC!
