In the early hours of Thursday morning, a tragic accident on Interstate 26 in Chapin led to the untimely deaths of a mother and her young son. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 2:45 a.m., causing significant delays for motorists in the area.

Emergency responders arrived quickly to the scene after the incident was reported. Two individuals in the pick-up truck were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The accident has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the crash and the loss of lives involved. Roads were closed for a significant time while authorities conducted their investigation into the incident. The authorities have reported that all lanes on I-26 West have now reopened.
The crash also caused heavy traffic congestion, especially near the intersections of Bush River Road and Leaphart Road. Commuters faced delays as they were diverted from the scene.
