Chaska High School Sports Weekly Recap: Basketball Wins, Gymnastics Triumphs, and Hockey Dominance

Boys and Girls High School Basketball Highlights from the Metropolitan Area

This week, high school basketball action was booming across Minnesota, particularly in the Metropolitan area. In an exciting boys’ game, Chaska narrowly defeated Shakopee with a final score of 67 to 62. The game showcased robust teamwork and strategy from both sides as they fought hard for every point.

Another thrilling match took place when Hopkins faced off against Totino-Grace. The final score was Hopkins 91, Totino-Grace 78, reflecting a high-scoring game where Hopkins displayed their skill and determination. Meanwhile, Mpls. Edison cruised past Metro Prep with a dominant score of 56 to 26, showcasing their strong defensive and offensive plays. Prairie Seeds also made headlines, defeating AFSA by a staggering score of 67 to 15.

On the girls’ side of the action, Benilde-St. Margaret’s edged out Byron in a nail-biter, winning with a final score of 58 to 56. Chaska continued their winning streak against Shakopee, with a comfortable victory of 65 to 49. In a particularly close game, Hopkins managed to defeat Eastview with a score of 68 to 61. Teams like Mpls. Edison and Nova Classical also put on strong performances, winning decisively against their opponents.

Turning to gymnastics, the girls from Wayzata delivered an impressive score of 137.45, beating Minnetonka, who scored 128.875. In the Northwest Suburban, Centennial claimed victory with a score of 121.025 against Champlin Park, who scored 110.975. Michaela Osland from Centennial had an individual score of 33.325 in all-around competitions.

In boys’ hockey, Park of Cottage Grove dominated Hastings with a significant score of 9 to 1. The girls’ hockey teams had their moments too, with Blaine narrowly winning against Osseo/Park Center with a score of 2 to 1, while Benilde-St. Margaret’s shut out Farmington with a solid score of 7 to 0.

In wrestling, Washington secured a win against Como Park with a score of 42 to 33, adding excitement to the week of sports events throughout Minnesota.
