Class 4A Girls Soccer Playoffs Heat Up with Thrilling Second Round Matchups

Excitement Builds for Second Round of Class 4A Girls Soccer Playoffs

This week in Logan, anticipation is high as the Class 4A girls soccer playoffs continue with several thrilling matchups scheduled for Tuesday.

The top-seeded Mountain Crest Mustangs will host the 16th-seeded Murray Spartans. Mountain Crest, boasting a strong record of 15 wins and only 1 loss this season, made a remarkable run in Region 11 play, outscoring opponents 51-5 to finish with a perfect 12-0 record and clinch the region title. Key players include Hadli Barrera, the team’s leading scorer, and goalkeeper Hadly Glenn, who has been instrumental in the defense. The Mustangs average an impressive 4.0 goals per game while allowing just 0.7 goals.

On the other hand, the 16th-seeded Murray advanced to this round after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Pine View following a 2-2 draw. Leading their offensive efforts is Preslee Stock, who has netted five goals this season. Murray has an average of 1.9 goals per game while giving up 2.1 goals.

In another exciting matchup, the 8th-seeded Desert Hills Thunder, riding a four-game winning streak, will take on the 9th-seeded Mountain View Bruins. Desert Hills has an overall record of 11-5, with a solid offense that has scored 59 goals this season, averaging 3.7 goals per game. Key players include Kamri Yergenson and Lilly Evans, who each have 11 goals. Meanwhile, Mountain View also has a record of 11-5, advancing after a 3-1 victory over Provo, with Lucy Konold leading the charge with two goals in that match.

The number 4 seed, Green Canyon Wolves, faces off against the 13 seeds, Orem Tigers. Green Canyon has been a force this season with a 15-3 record, featuring star player Kyleigh Hastings, who has already amassed 26 goals. Orem, with a record of 9-7, will lean on London Guymon, who scored twice in their first-round victory.

Meanwhile, the 12th-seeded Cedar City Reds will challenge the 5th-seeded Park City Miners. Cedar City advanced with a close 1-0 win over Dixie, while Park City is coming off a dominant performance throughout Region 10 play.

Also set for Tuesday are contests between the 2nd-seeded Snow Canyon Warriors and 15th-seeded West Field Longhorns, as well as a battle between the 7th-seeded Uintah Utes and the 10th-seed Crimson Cliffs Mustangs.

Rounding out the action is a matchup featuring the 19th-seeded Sky View Bobcats against the 3rd-seeded Timpanogos Timberwolves, with Sky View looking to continue their surprising playoff run after an upset in the first round.

With so much on the line and everything to play for, the excitement for the second round of the Class 4A girls soccer playoffs is palpable. Fans are in for a treat as these talented teams battle for a spot in the quarterfinals!
