Just last night, at 9 p.m. sharp, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) made a significant change – the exit on Interstate 26 that drivers have known for years leading to Bush River Road is now officially closed, and a new exit has opened up for business!

For anyone used to zipping off to Bush River Road from I-26 eastbound, it’s time to switch gears. Moving forward, the access point to Bush River Road will be via the newly opened Colonial Life ramp on I-126 eastbound. This ramp is located about half a mile past the former Bush River Road exit.

But wait, there’s more! SCDOT has another change coming up quickly—this Sunday at 9 p.m. marks the closure of the I-26 on-ramps at Bush River Road. Drivers aiming to hop onto I-26 from Bush River Road will need to redirect toward the new Colonial Life ramp onto I-126 westbound instead.

How to Navigate the New Setup

If you’re traveling from Bush River Road to I-26 eastbound, you’ll now drive down to Colonial Life Boulevard and look for signs guiding you to the I-126 interchange that connects to the I-26 flyover toward Charleston. On the flip side, if you are headed westbound toward Spartanburg, follow the same Colonial Life Boulevard route to make your way onto I-26 west.
