Born on December 3rd, 1947, in Newberry, South Carolina, Katie Jo was part of a military family, and her upbringing took her around the globe. As a teen, she attended high school at the Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya, during the vibrant 1960s. Her experiences during those formative years shaped her outgoing personality and undoubtedly contributed to her sparkling character.
Throughout her life, Katie Jo became known for her joyful spirit and those unforgettable bright blue eyes that seemed to twinkle with genuine warmth. It didn’t take long for her to forge lasting friendships that would weave into the fabric of her life. From the moment she set foot in school, she blossomed into a beloved figure among her peers, nurturing bonds that would last a lifetime.
Family was everything to Katie Jo. She leaves behind two devoted daughters, Micheline Murre and Heather Hargrove, along with four grandchildren who were undoubtedly her pride and joy. Those grandchildren include Devan Michael Ray Murre, Christian Tyler Murre, Austin Blake Cook, and Ashley Paige Odom. Katie Jo was also a great-grandmother, cherishing the time spent with little Ryann Elizabeth Murre and Parker James Murre.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Katie Jo is survived by her beloved sister, Diane Farman. Her family includes a niece, Megan Gulick, and a nephew, Eric Farman, all of whom will carry her memory with them as a testament to her love and spirit.
