Edmonds-Woodway Warriors Triumph in High School Basketball

EDMONDS – On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors kept their winning streak alive, defeating the Lynnwood Royals with a score of 45-36. This victory improved the Warriors’ record to 4-0 for the season.

The game was closely contested early on, with Edmonds-Woodway leading 8-5 after the first quarter. The Warriors gradually built their lead throughout the game, scoring 11 points in the second quarter and 14 in the third while holding Lynnwood to just 9 points in both quarters. Despite a push by Lynnwood in the final quarter, where they managed to outscore Edmonds-Woodway 13-12, it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

Junior Finley Wichers was a standout for the Warriors, contributing 15 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Senior Abi Porter also made an impact with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore Jasmine Gill rounded out the scoring with 11 points. The individual scoring for the Warriors was completed by Janie Hanson (5 points), Audrey Rothmier (4 points), and Madeline Skaar (2 points).

On the other side, Nina Wilson led the Royals with 14 points. Her teammates also contributed, with Shifa Hanchinamani scoring 8 points, and both Ena Dodik and Lexi Tamayo adding 7 points each. The Royals fell to a record of 1-3 overall after this match.

In other matches on the same day, the Shorecrest Scots defeated the Mountlake Terrace Hawks significantly with a score of 78-39. The Shorecrest team is now 2-0 in the league and 6-0 overall. Noah Million from the Meadowdale Mavericks had an impressive performance as well, scoring 20 points in a game where they won against the Snohomish Panthers 54-38.

Next up for the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors is a matchup against Archbishop Murphy on Wednesday, December 18, at 7:15 p.m. at their home gym. Meanwhile, Lynnwood will take on Kings on Saturday, December 14, at noon.
