The charming town of Chapin is buzzing with excitement as the popular Aquarius Spa & Salon prepares to unveil its beautiful new facility! After nearly two decades of serving the community, this beloved local business is set to host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, December 7. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities at 5:30 p.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a delightful holiday open house from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring tasty food, refreshing beverages, and live music.
A Journey Through Time
Aquarius Spa & Salon first opened its doors in 2005, under the care of the husband-and-wife team, Marie and Joe Keeton. Can you believe they started in a cozy, 1,000-square-foot farmhouse on Chapin’s Columbia Avenue? It wasn’t long before they moved to the historic Robinson-Hiller House on Virginia Street, where they thrived for over 17 years.
Now, the Keetons have made their move just next door to a newly constructed, spacious 5,300-square-foot facility. Built by Chapin Commercial Construction, this new space doubles the size of the treatment rooms and salon, adds an exciting head spa, and features a calming “serenity room” where guests can relax and rejuvenate between treatments. Talk about an upgrade!
A Space Filled with Charm
According to Marie, keeping a warm and inviting atmosphere was a top priority while designing the new spa. “It’s been great,” she shared. “We have the space we need.” One challenge was transferring the unique character of the former Robinson-Hiller House into the new facility. “That building had so much character… it was important to me to bring that over here.” From the feedback of their guests, it seems like they’ve succeeded! Marie is delighted that clients have been responding positively to the new ambiance.
A World of Services Awaits
Aquarius offers an extensive range of services to pamper its clients. From haircuts, manicures, and pedicures to massages, facials, and more, there’s something for everyone! Additionally, they have partnered with About Face Aesthetics & Wellness to provide an array of med spa services like Botox, fillers, and hormone replacement therapy, ensuring that their clients have all their beauty needs taken care of in one stop.
What’s more, their front lobby features numerous retail items so customers can take a piece of their luxurious experience home. According to Marie, “Everything we use in treatment rooms or the salons we try to sell in the retail area, so people can take home their experience.” From creams and cosmetics to stylish accessories, there’s a little something special for everyone.
The Heartbeat of Chapin
The story of Aquarius Spa & Salon mirrors the growth of Chapin itself. Over the past 30 years, this lovely town’s population has swelled from just 347 in 1990 to nearly 2,000 today. “It has changed so much,” Marie reminisced. “I remember Chapin when I met my husband 36 years ago, it had no stop lights. There was one grocery store, and it was tiny.” Yet, she notes that despite the changes, the small-town charm remains intact, which is something she hopes to always preserve.
In the words of Chad Lindler, president of Chapin Commercial Construction, “As Chapin natives, it’s been incredibly rewarding to construct a beautiful new building for Aquarius Spa & Salon to expand its services right here in our hometown.” It’s evident that the growth of local businesses like Aquarius contributes to Chapin’s charm and appeal.
