Exciting High School Soccer Playoffs in Portland

Portland, Oregon – In an exciting matchup on Thursday, October 24, the Franklin Lightning and the Lincoln Cardinals faced off in a thrilling boys soccer game at Franklin High School. Both teams displayed impressive skills, resulting in a 2-2 tie. This draw allowed each team to share the title of the Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) champions.

The game was full of action, with players from both sides giving it their all. Franklin scored the first goal, setting the tone early on, only for Lincoln to quickly even the score. The back-and-forth continued throughout the match, showcasing the strong rivalry between the two teams. Each side had moments of brilliance, and as the final whistle blew, the 2-2 score meant both teams could celebrate their achievements this season.

As the PIL season wraps up, attention turns to the playoffs. The boys soccer second round took place recently, where some of the state’s top teams advanced to the quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday. Lakeridge defeated Wells 4-2, while Grant won against West Linn in a nail-biting penalty shootout, 4-3. Franklin also made headlines by defeating Sherwood 2-1. With a record of 11-4-1, Franklin is set to face McMinnville, who boasts an impressive 13-2-1 record, in what promises to be an intense quarterfinal matchup.

Other matches saw Jesuit overpower Westview with a score of 6-1, and Lincoln securing a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against South Eugene. Jesuit will host Lincoln on Saturday in another exciting game that fans are eagerly anticipating.

As the boys soccer playoffs continue, the energy in Portland remains high, with teams ready to battle it out for a chance at the championship. The community’s support for these young athletes is palpable, and it’s shaping up to be a thrilling conclusion to the season.
