Bethany Celebrates National Signing Day with Exciting Announcements

On Wednesday, the city of Bethany witnessed a thrilling National Signing Day as several talented athletes committed to their future schools. While football players will wait until next month to sign, basketball and other sports saw numerous athletes officially make their decisions.

One standout was Keziah Lofton, a highly regarded left-handed guard for Bethany’s girls basketball team. Lofton has been a top prospect since her middle school years and didn’t hesitate to choose the University of Oklahoma to continue her basketball career. “I grew up a Sooner, so it was a no-brainer for me,” she said, expressing her excitement during the signing ceremony held in her school’s gym. Lofton, who has already led her team to back-to-back state titles, highlighted the effort involved in reaching this moment: “It feels great. It’s a dream come true.”

Alongside Lofton, Kayten Donley also signed with a Division-I program, committing to Oral Roberts University. The pair has played a crucial role in lifting their team to success over the years, and Lofton acknowledged the importance of her teammates and coaches in her journey. “It wasn’t just me… Hopefully, we can add one more championship to this school,” she remarked, as they look ahead to the season.

Crossings Christian also had a success story as guard Cal Furnish announced his decision to attend Oral Roberts. Furnish’s ambition and hard work paid off this summer as he became a three-star recruit after playing in the Nike EYBL circuit. “Oral Roberts was a school I always had on my radar,” he shared, crediting the faith-based environment as a significant factor in his choice. He aims to make the most out of his final high school season before heading to college.

Another exciting signing came from Edmond Memorial with Janiyah Williams, who recently chose the University of Oregon. After receiving more than thirty Division-I offers, Williams expressed relief and excitement about her future. “I was just really more so excited and just ready to get the process over with,” she said, as she was joined by her teammate Avery Hjelmstad, who signed with Utah.

Choctaw also had a remarkable day with 19 athletes signing on, including baseball stars Cash Williams and Gaige Albright. Williams committed to the University of Tennessee, stating, “My fit at Tennessee felt like a no-brainer.” Albright is heading to Oklahoma State, excited about his future while still aiming for a state championship in the upcoming season.
