Last week saw some exciting action in high school sports, showcasing impressive performances from athletes across the region. In football, CBA’s junior quarterback Archie Jones put on a fantastic show, throwing for 191 yards and a remarkable six touchdowns in the first half alone, leading his team to a staggering 75-0 victory over Schenectady.
Meanwhile, Cam Grasso from Niskayuna contributed to a 21-7 win against Guilderland with two rushing touchdowns and a touchdown pass. John Gload from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake also had a stellar game, rushing for 169 yards and two touchdowns in a close 22-21 victory over Queensbury. In that same game, Zavry Ward from Queensbury threw for 251 yards and added a rushing touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as his team fell short.
On the soccer field, Jackson Eberz from Guilderland got things started early, scoring just 49 seconds into the game in a 1-0 victory against Shaker. Kofi Sarfoh from Shaker stole the spotlight in a different match, netting three goals in a 4-1 win over Shenendehowa.
The girls’ soccer scene shined too, with Cody Hamilton scoring a hat trick in an 8-0 blowout against Colonie, while Isabella Seibert helped Columbia secure a 7-1 victory over the same team, contributing four goals of her own.
In cross country, Thomas Isenovski from Saratoga Springs made waves by winning at the Saratoga Invitational with a time of 15:15, while Allison Boler from Niskayuna took the top spot for the girls with a time of 19:07.
As the season continues, it’s clear that high school athletes are giving their all and producing some thrilling moments on the field. Fans are eager to see what the next week will bring!
