PROSPERITY, S.C. — In a heartfelt tribute to a fallen hero, a memorial service was held on June 19 for K-9 Officer Coba, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in Newberry County. Coba, a four-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, was a dedicated member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), serving on the SWAT Team and K9 Tracking Team since joining the force in 2021.

The events that led to this sorrowful day began when deputies from the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Gravel Road to serve a fugitive felony warrant.
