The City Government of Newberry

The city government of Newberry is a council-manager government. The city council is made up of seven members who are elected at-large. The city manager is appointed by the city council and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city.

The city council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. The meetings are open to the public. The city council is responsible for setting policy for the city and approving the city budget. The city manager is responsible for implementing the policies set by the city council and managing the city’s day-to-day operations.

The city of Newberry is divided into four wards. Each ward is represented by two members of the city council. The mayor of Newberry is elected at-large and serves as the presiding officer of the city council. The current mayor of Newberry is Foster Senn.

The city of Newberry provides a variety of services to its residents, including:

  • Fire protection
  • Emergency medical services
  • Garbage collection
  • Street maintenance
  • Water and sewer service
  • Parks and recreation
