Another aspect of the education budget focuses on safety, with the governor proposing an additional $21 million to hire more resource officers for public schools. In addition, he is looking to freeze in-state college tuition with a budget initiative worth around $29 million.
Amid the budget discussions, a novel proposal is gaining traction—the ability to purchase lottery tickets using debit cards instead of cash. This could potentially boost lottery proceeds in the state!
Finally, like any capable leader, McMaster isn’t ignoring the challenges posed by natural disasters. He has earmarked $50 million for public transportation repairs that arose from Hurricane Helene, along with more funding for disaster recovery programs. Additionally, he has initiated studies on methods to move electric power lines underground to minimize future damage.
