Newberry Co. Sheriff’s Office Continues Investigation Into Helena Area Shooting That Left 3 Injured
In a shocking incidence, an early morning shooting in the Helena area of Newberry County resulted in three individuals injured. The trigger-happy incident, which took place on Sunday, is currently under an ongoing investigation by the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
The Incident
Sheriff Lee Foster of the Newberry County, has reported that the event happened on a property within Brown Chapel Circle, which was being utilized as a sort of party venue or club. “Apparently, some kind of fight broke out, and then guns were introduced,” Foster described.
The law enforcement agency had initially received multiple calls regarding the incident roughly around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday. On arriving at the scene, the officers discovered three victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency medical intervention.
Victims’ Condition and Investigation
“Two of the three were quite severely injured and they required medivac helicopters to land and whisk them away to a trauma center,” Sheriff Foster relayed, adding that “One of them was in pretty serious condition when they left.”
The sheriff also indicated that those present on the property had initially come from a legally operated event before assembling at the residential setting operating illegally in the community. Foster estimated the crowd to have exceeded 100 attendees who scattered following the gun violence.
The owner of the property is among the victims and his establishment is also under investigation, “We’re also looking into the nature of the business that’s a residential place and had no business operating in that community,” Foster explained, “At 2:40 in the morning, we certainly know that nobody there was gearing up for church.”
As of current reports, all victims remain in the hospital, with two in stable condition. The third victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, underwent surgery on Monday.
