High School Sports Preview for Local Teams

As the weekend wraps up in Pittsburgh, high school sports teams are gearing up for an exciting Monday with a packed schedule across various sports including hockey, soccer, and volleyball.

Hockey

The hockey action kicks off with several Class 3A teams taking to the ice. North Allegheny will face off against South Fayette at the Mt. Lebanon Ice Center, starting at 7:10 PM. Meanwhile, in Class 2A, Armstrong will take on Baldwin at Ice Castle Ice Arena at 7:00 PM. Canon-McMillan and Norwin will meet at Palmer Imaging Arena starting at 6:30 PM, while Hempfield goes head-to-head against Penn-Trafford at 8:30 PM in the same venue.

Class A matchups will also be competitive, with Hampton facing Butler at the Frozen Pond Arena at 9:10 PM, and Indiana will play against North Hills at RMU Island Sports Center at 7:15 PM. Other notable games include Plum vs. Chartiers Valley at Mt. Lebanon Ice Center at 9:10 PM and West Allegheny vs. Mars at Baierl Ice Complex at 9:00 PM.

Soccer

On the soccer field, boys’ Class 2A features a key match between Deer Lakes and North Catholic at 7:00 PM. Additionally, California will travel to Waynesburg for a nonsection game at the same time. Leechburg will challenge West Shamokin also at 7:00 PM. In the girls’ section, Norwin will play against Armstrong at 7:30 PM, while Penn-Trafford will take on Hempfield at the same time. Other matches include Mt. Lebanon at Baldwin and Upper St. Clair at Canon-McMillan, both set for 7:30 PM.

Volleyball

In volleyball, the Class A excitement will feature Serra Catholic at Brentwood at 7:30 PM. Nonsection opponents Aliquippa and Western Beaver will also face off at 6:00 PM. Various other matches are on the line, with teams like Chartiers Valley battling Baldwin at 7:30 PM and Greensburg Salem meeting Connellsville at 7:15 PM.

As teams prepare for their matchups, fans are encouraged to come out and support their local athletes. Remember, schedules are subject to change, so keep an eye out for updates!
