High School Football Playoff Highlights from Kansas City
This week, the Kansas City metro area was buzzing with excitement as high school football teams battled it out in thrilling playoff matches across both Missouri and Kansas. The stakes were high as teams aimed for a spot in the upcoming rounds.
Class 6 Quarterfinals
On Friday, Nixa narrowly defeated Lee’s Summit North with a score of 21-20. Meanwhile, in another intense matchup, Kirkwood overcame Jackson with a final score of 45-35. Saturday’s games featured Park Hill taking on Liberty at 1 p.m. and De Smet facing Columbia Rock Bridge, also at 1 p.m.
Class 5 Quarterfinals
In Class 5 action, Platte County secured a convincing victory over Webb City, winning 35-0. MICDS also dominated their game against Fort Zumwalt West with a remarkable score of 49-3. Looking ahead to Saturday, Lafayette from Wildwood will be up against Cardinal Ritter, while Helias Catholic will face Republic, both scheduled for 1 p.m.
Class 4 Quarterfinals
On Friday, Kearney had a strong performance against Warrensburg, winning decisively by a score of 49-14. Upcoming Saturday matchups include Lutheran North at Parkway North at noon and Festus taking on Gateway STEM at 1 p.m.
Other Notable Games
In the Class 1 district championships, Penney won against North Platte, 35-13, and Adrian squeaked out a win against Marionville, 17-16. In the 8-man district championship, Bishop LeBlond finished with a close score of 60-54 against Rock Port.
