High School Sports Roundup: Exciting Week of Action

This week in high school sports across the region, multiple games kept fans on the edge of their seats with thrilling performances and impressive teamwork. Here’s a quick look at some of the standout matches.

In a notable game, Lewis Mills dominated Middletown with a score of 5-1. The Mills players showcased their skills as Leah Mischke, Riley Mills, Gemma Goshdigian, and Lily Castle each contributed to the score, with Castle netting two goals securing their impressive victory. On the other hand, Middletown’s lone goal came from Yori Perry-Rice. The game saw a total of 21 shots on goal from Mills compared to Middletown’s 18, with Mills goalie Anna Henry making 7 crucial saves to help maintain their lead.

In the CTC quarterfinals, Wolcott Tech faced off against Wilcox Tech, winning 5-3. Senior striker Kendall Contadini had an outstanding game, scoring four goals and assisting another. Freshman midfielder Allisen Pleil also made an impact with a goal and an assist, while junior goalie Meghan McKearney tallied 13 saves.

The FCIAC quarterfinals were equally exciting, highlighted by New Canaan defeating Trumbull 3-1. Sydney Patten delivered two goals for New Canaan, supporting their strong performance. Meanwhile, the match between Staples and Greenwich saw Staples winning 3-0 with goals from Annabel Edwards, Taylor Lunney, and Addie Talbot.

Seymour secured a comfortable win against Torrington with a score of 2-0, thanks to goals from Joey Carrafiello and a solid performance by the defense.

In volleyball, RHAM took on Cheshire and won in a tight match, 3-1. Meredith Weir and Abby Simao led RHAM with numerous kills, showcasing their offensive strength.
