Staples dominated the field in a recent soccer match against Danbury, finishing with an impressive 11-1 score. This match highlighted Staples’ strong offense, as they continued to build momentum through solid teamwork and relentless energy.

In New Haven, the Hopkins team shut out Hamden Hall with a 6-0 victory. Munib Kassem and Eric Roberts both showcased their skills, contributing two goals each, while Marco Dias also found the back of the net. Goalkeeper Liam Acton recorded five saves against Hamden Hall’s relentless attacks, but the scoreline spoke for itself.

Northwest Catholic asserted their strength with a decisive 1-0 win over Avon. Samantha Casper scored the game’s only goal, supported by a solid defense, with Abby Casper making two crucial saves to ensure the clean sheet.

In another exciting match, Seymour triumphed over Oxford with a 3-0 score. Joey Carrafiello led the charge with two goals while Nathan Ferriera also added a goal to the tally. Goalkeeper Alex Porczynski contributed significantly with four saves, ensuring that Oxford couldn’t break through.

Mercy faced Cheshire in a tightly contested match, ultimately winning 4-2. Molly Benson was an outstanding player for Mercy, notching two goals while Laney Smith provided four assists. Cheshire fought hard but couldn’t keep up with Mercy’s intensity.

In a closely matched volleyball game, Trumbull edged out Staples with a thrilling 3-2 victory. Ava Kunkel stood out for Trumbull, delivering 10 kills, while McKenzyi Bell had an impressive six blocks. The match swung back and forth, showcasing the spirited play from both teams.

In other notable matches, Hale Ray defeated Old Lyme 3-0, and Hamden took down Killingly 3-1. Northwestern also managed a close victory against Suffield, and Woodstock Academy had a nail-biting win against Cheshire in five sets.
