This week, high school sports in Cranston witnessed several exciting matches across various divisions, showcasing the incredible talent of local athletes.
In boys soccer, Cranston East put on a dominant performance, defeating Rogers with a score of 4-0. The Thunderbolts, with a record of 9-7-3, saw goals from Madisen Gallo, Jaelyn Cogean, Lena Ramcharran, and Tia Sanzaro. Meanwhile, the Vikings fell to 5-12-1.
In girls soccer, the Lincoln School Lynx wreaked havoc on the field against Times2, winning 10-0. Standout Sarah Berube scored two goals and assisted on two others, while teammates Bianca Monteiro-Lopes and Sophia DeMelo both scored twice. The Lynx improved to 11-3-1, while Times2 struggled, now sitting at 1-11.
Shifting gears to girls volleyball, Portsmouth secured a convincing 3-0 victory against South Kingstown. The Patriots upped their record to 15-1 as Hailey Labonte led with 13 kills, alongside Caitlin Mediate and Mila Abedon contributing impressive stats as well.
In another match, FWG came out strong, defeating West Warwick 3-0. Key players like Isabella McCombs and Kate Herbert played crucial roles in the Scarlet Knights’ win. West Warwick struggled to keep up, leading to a swift match finish.
