High School Sports Roundup: Exciting Action Across the Region

In Bethel, the girls’ soccer team faced off against Morgan and emerged victorious with a score of 3-1. Bethel’s Laina Caffrey led the charge with two goals while Emma Pires added another. Morgan’s only goal came from Sadie Passante, with an assist from Rachel Spaziano. Bethel maintained an impressive record of 12-1-3, while Morgan’s record stands at 9-3-2.

In a thrilling matchup, Greenwich drew against Staples with a final score of 2-2. Goals for Staples were scored by Katie Fitzgerald and Natalie Chudowsky, who both received assists from Annabel Edwards and Willa Shamie. Both teams showcased their skills and battling spirit.

Waterford dominated St. Bernard in a lopsided match that ended 6-0. Scorers included Camryn Dickinson with one goal and two assists, and Paige Jessuck with two goals. Victoria Sturm shut out St. Bernard with only two saves while also scoring her first career goal on a penalty kick.

Law and Branford had a high-scoring game, with Law sealing a 7-3 victory. Leading the charge was Alex Rodriguez and Christian Mead, each netting two goals. Meanwhile, Law secured a narrow win against Amistad with a score of 1-0, thanks to another goal from Rodriguez.

In a closely contested match, East Lyme edged out North Branford with a score of 4-3. The game featured multiple scorers including Gracie Lloyd and Sophia Gibson for East Lyme, as they raised their record to 12-3 while North Branford fell to 11-1-2.

Glastonbury overcame Longmeadow, Mass., winning 3-1. Zoe White, Deirdre McKiernan, and Addison Infante all contributed goals to help Glastonbury improve their record to 13-1. On the other side, Longmeadow now holds a record of 12-3-2.

Finally, Stonington triumphed over Avon with an impressive score of 5-1. Anna Lettiere scored the first goal for Stonington, while Misha Lewandowski netted twice to seal the win.
