High School Sports Roundup: Rivalry Showdowns and Championship Titles

Kimberly, WI – In an intense clash on the field, the Kimberly Papermakers secured a share of the Fox Valley Association football title. With a record of 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the FVA, they now sit tied at the top alongside Kaukauna and Neenah. The game came down to the wire as Kimberly was leading 10-3 late in the fourth quarter when Appleton North‘s quarterback, Charlie Olson, threw a quick 47-yard touchdown pass to Grant Hardy. However, their two-point conversion attempt fell short, allowing Kimberly to clinch the narrow 10-9 victory.

Highlights included the return of Marcus Doucette, who, after missing most of the season due to a broken collarbone, contributed significantly with 91 yards from 15 carries and an 8-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Football Results

In other football action, Freedom cruised to a solid 34-21 win over Luxemburg-Casco. Quarterback Drew Kortz displayed an impressive performance, amassing nearly 400 yards of offense with 321 yards passing and four touchdown throws. Quinn Brennenstuhl and Parker Jochimsen also shone, contributing 100 and 88 receiving yards, respectively.

Meanwhile, Menasha was led by Logal Liegl, who was instrumental in their victory. He had two rushing touchdowns, a touchdown pass, and a safety, demonstrating his all-around skills.

In another exciting game, Waupaca overcame Xavier with a score of 34-15, securing their playoff berth. Touchdowns for Waupaca came from Xzaver Pittman and Austin Adamczak, both crucial in pulling ahead against Xavier’s efforts.

Cross Country Highlights

On the cross country front, the Little Chute girls team dominated, taking the top three spots at the conference tournament for a total of 27 points. Ashley Wilson led the way, finishing in 18:56, and securing the individual title. The Little Chute boys also claimed victory, closely edging out rival Luxemburg-Casco with a score of 49 to 54.

This weekend saw multiple teams competing fiercely, showcasing the depth of talent and spirit across the region as they approach playoff season.
