High School Sports Update: Exciting Matchups in the Twin Cities

In the bustling city of Minneapolis, high school sports teams are making headlines with some thrilling results. The adapted soccer scene saw South Washington County shine brightly, defeating St. Paul Johnson with a score of 7-3.

Meanwhile, in girls soccer, the Class 3A state tournament semifinals showcased impressive performances. Edina triumphed over East Ridge with a score of 3-1, and Wayzata dominated Eagan with a 5-0 victory. This sets the stage for an exciting title game coming up this Friday.

In the Class 2A semifinals, Holy Angels netted a decisive win against Orono, finishing at 4-1, while Mahtomedi left no doubt in their match against Mankato East, winning 7-0. The 1A championship will feature Providence Academy and Southwest Christian after their respective wins.

Volleyball Highlights

Moving to volleyball, the Girls Class 4A section semifinals were thrilling. In a closely contested match, Minnetonka narrowly defeated Prior Lake with a final score of 3-2. Waconia also secured their spot by beating Chaska, winning 3-1.

In other sections, Anoka fought past Forest Lake with a score of 3-1, while Centennial triumphed over Blaine. The competition is heating up as teams are eager to make it to the finals.

Furthermore, in a touching story from the football field, Owen Guertin is proving that determination pays off. After recovering from serious surgery, he has taken the field as a senior with the Benilde-St. Margaret’s team, working hard to earn a spot in the state playoffs.
