Sports Action Heats Up in Arlington High Schools
This week in Arlington, high school sports teams are ready to showcase their skills across various games and competitions starting Friday, December 13. With basketball matches, a big wrestling tournament, swim-and-dive meets, girls’ gymnastics, ice-hockey games, and indoor track-and-field events, there’s something for every sports fan to enjoy.
In basketball, the boys’ games feature a highly anticipated matchup with Jefferson visiting Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Oakton will take on Washington-Liberty at the same time. On the girls’ side, a competitive game is set with Yorktown traveling to Jefferson also at 7:30 p.m., while Wakefield faces South County at 7:30 p.m., and Washington-Liberty meets Oakton.
Wrestling fans can look forward to the Sherando Tournament hosted by Washington-Liberty beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and a nine-team dual meet at Wakefield at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The swim-and-dive events include Langley at Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. and Washington-Liberty competing against Herndon at 7 p.m. Other notable matches feature Meridian at Yorktown at 6:30 p.m.
Ice hockey games include Yorktown traveling to Tuscarora for a 9:20 p.m. face-off and Washington-Liberty going against Lake Braddock/Fairfax at 8:30 p.m.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. Indoor track-and-field events will take place at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center with Wakefield competing at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, while Washington-Liberty participates in the Battlefield Invitational at 10 a.m.
