High School Sports Roundup: North Platte Celebrates Thrilling Volleyball and Softball Matches

North Platte, Neb. – This week saw a flurry of action in local high school sports, with both softball and volleyball teams stepping onto the field and court. Here’s a summary of the latest results.

Softball Results

The North Platte softball team faced a tough matchup against McCook and unfortunately fell short, losing 8-0. In other games, Cozad enjoyed a significant victory over Chase County, finishing with a score of 24-7. Hershey played against Bayard, with the first game ending 4-0 in favor of Hershey. However, Bayard made a strong comeback in the second game, edging out Hershey with a narrow 6-5 victory.

Volleyball Highlights

Over in volleyball, the Overton team pushed past Brady in a decisive 3-0 match, with set scores of 26-24, 25-13, and 25-16. Chase County also claimed a decisive 3-0 victory over Sidney, with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 26-24.

In another match, Hershey swept Kimball 3-0, with scores of 25-8, 25-13, and 25-20. Ogallala faced Cozad in a challenging game but emerged victorious. Anselmo-Merna took down South Loup with a score of 2-0, finishing the sets 27-25 and 25-21.

South Loup Triangular

During the South Loup triangular event, Elm Creek triumphed over Anselmo-Merna with a score of 2-0 after sets of 25-20 and 25-16. Elm Creek continued their winning streak by defeating South Loup with scores of 25-10 and 25-15.

Paxton Tournament Results

At the Paxton tournament, Paxton secured a solid win against Wallace, finishing 2-0 with scores of 25-16 and 25-11. Wauneta-Palisade also put on a strong performance against Potter Dix, finishing 2-0 after winning 25-6 and 25-21. In a thrilling match, Potter Dix came back to defeat Wallace 2-1.

Finally, Wauneta-Palisade claimed the championship of the tournament by defeating Paxton 2-0, with set scores of 25-14 and 25-17.

In college volleyball, McCook Community College had a successful outing against North Platte Community College, winning in straight sets 3-0, with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 26-24.
