Newberry Welcomes Jennifer Brown as New Assistant Principal

NEWBERRY — The staff at Newberry Middle School is excited to announce that Jennifer Brown has joined the administration team as the new Assistant Principal. Her experience and dedication to education make her a valuable addition to the school.

A Strong Educational Background

Brown has been a teacher in the School District of Newberry County for seven years, where she has made a significant impact on her students. She is a proud graduate of Whitmire Community School and obtained her degree in Business Administration from USC Upstate. Brown has since furthered her education by earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.

Recognitions and Achievements

Her hard work has not gone unnoticed. Brown was celebrated as the 2022-23 Teacher of the Year at Newberry Middle School and received the title of WLTX Teacher of the Week during this current school year. In addition to these honors, she was named the 2022-2023 Distinguished Literacy Teacher of the Year.

Brown has also played a key role in various school programs. She is the founder and lead coordinator of the PAWsitive Tiger Experience Mentorship Program. Her leadership experience includes serving as the related arts team leader, Computer Science Lead Teacher for the district, and being the lead teacher for NMS Tiger News. During the summers of 2023 and 2024, Brown contributed as the Lead Administrator for summer school, overseeing educational programs during those months.

Diverse Responsibilities Ahead

As the new assistant principal, Brown will take on a range of responsibilities. These include overseeing attendance, addressing excessive tardies, managing ID cards, and taking charge of the Junior Beta Club. She will also serve as the Testing Coordinator and will support Ms. Cannon with WIDA assessments, act as the Textbook Coordinator, and help organize Awards Celebrations. Brown will also be the 504 Coordinator and will focus on the needs of eighth-grade students while assisting with evaluations and observations.

A Commitment to Education

Brown expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for her new role within the Newberry community. “I am humbled and happy to continue serving stakeholders of the School District of Newberry County. I am excited to start year eight within the same district and same school that I began my educational career. Though I am entering a new role, my passion and purpose will remain consistent,” she said. Brown added, “Whatever it takes, our kids are worth it!” This sentiment reflects the Newberry Middle School Motto, showcasing her commitment to ensuring a positive and supportive environment for all students.

Brown’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Newberry Middle School as it continues its mission to provide quality education and foster student growth. With her diverse experience and dedication, it is clear that she will work hard to enhance the educational experiences of the students at Newberry Middle.
