Newberry’s KinderFun Program for Young Children Opens Registration for Fall Season

Newberry’s KinderFun Program Returns This Fall

NEWBERRY — The City of Newberry is gearing up for the return of its KinderFun program, designed for children aged three to five. Registration for this beloved community event is now open, promising a variety of engaging activities for young participants. The program, which is completely free, will take place on Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., starting on September 21 and running through October 26.

Location & Schedule

Activities will be held at the Newberry Recreation Complex, located at 1786 Glenn Street Extension. Each week, the program introduces a new activity, aiming to teach games that require minimal equipment. This format not only encourages creativity but also allows parents to easily replicate these activities at home, making bonding time even more special.

A Growing Tradition

According to Josh Ammons, the program coordinator, KinderFun was established in 2020 as a new initiative for children who were too young for youth sports like football and cheerleading. The program replaced the previously offered Kinder Soccer and has since become a staple in the community. “With there being other opportunities for children to play soccer, we wanted to offer a unique program,” Ammons explained. He emphasized that the goal of the program is not just fun but also teaching children valuable skills and games.

Community Response

The KinderFun program has seen impressive growth, with maximum capacity reached each year. “The growth of the program has been amazing,” Ammons noted. “We hear all year from returning participants how excited they are for KinderFun to start.” The program caters to a limit of 20 participants each session, reinforcing the idea of personalized attention and fostering a close-knit community atmosphere.

Registration Details

Parents wishing to enroll their children must act quickly, as registration ends on September 13 or when slots are filled. Registration can be completed at the Parks, Recreation and Tourism office located at 1323 College Street or online at www.NewberryPRT.com. Participants will need to bring their own drink bottles to the sessions.

Contact Information

For any questions regarding the program, parents and guardians can reach out to the department at 803-321-1015. This is a great opportunity for young children in Newberry to make friends, learn new skills, and have a lot of fun!

As the season approaches, excitement is building for the KinderFun program, a cherished addition to Newberry’s community offerings. Parents are encouraged to register soon to secure a spot in this popular fall activity.
