NEWBERRY — Parents in Newberry can look forward to the return of the KinderFun program, aimed at children ages three to five, this fall. Registration is currently open, and the program promises a range of engaging activities designed to spark joy and learning in young children.
The KinderFun program will run on Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., starting on September 21 and concluding on October 26. This year, the sessions will take place at the Newberry Recreation Complex, located at 1786 Glenn Street Extension. Similar to the popular summer RecMobile program, KinderFun is offered free of charge, making it a fantastic opportunity for families.
According to Josh Ammons, the program coordinator, KinderFun started in 2020 as a way to offer fall activities for children who were not old enough to join youth football or cheerleading. It replaced the previously available Kinder Soccer program to provide a unique experience tailored to younger kids.
“We wanted to create something different, as there are already many opportunities for kids to play soccer,” Ammons explained. “Each week, we teach a new activity with the aim of introducing games that require minimal equipment.” This aspect allows parents to easily engage and play these games at home with their children, creating a fun and interactive environment.
The KinderFun program has seen remarkable growth over the years, with Ammons noting that the program reaches its maximum capacity every session. “It’s been amazing to see the growth, and we frequently hear from returning participants who are eager for KinderFun to start again,” he added.
To ensure a personalized experience, the program is limited to the first 20 participants who register. Parents are reminded that participants will need to bring their own drink bottles, so be sure to prepare before the sessions begin.
Parents interested in signing up can do so by visiting the Parks Recreation and Tourism office at 1323 College Street or registering online through the official website at www.NewberryPRT.com. The registration deadline is September 13 or until the 20 spots are filled, so it is advisable to act quickly.
For any questions or concerns, parents can reach out to the Parks, Recreation and Tourism department by calling 803-321-1015. This is a wonderful opportunity for young children to participate in fun and educational activities that are not just enjoyable but also introductory to sports and games.
As the fall season approaches, the return of the KinderFun program brings excitement and valuable experiences for families in Newberry. Don’t miss out on enrolling your children in this engaging program!
