Mountlake Terrace Tops Shorecrest in Thrilling Overtime Win

Mountlake Terrace, Washington – In a thrilling overtime showdown on Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks defeated the Shorecrest Scots 19-16 in a nail-biting Wesco 3A South matchup. The game was a back-and-forth battle, ultimately bringing the teams to a tie of 13-13 at the end of regulation time.

Shorecrest had the first chance in overtime and scored a field goal, giving them a short-lived 16-13 lead. However, the Hawks quickly responded with a game-winning touchdown, improving their record to 2-0 in league play and 3-1 overall. This victory puts them among the top competitors in the league.

Mason Wilson led the Hawks’ offense, completing 8 of 19 passes for 97 yards, while also contributing significantly on the ground with 16 carries for 60 yards and one touchdown. Owen Boswell was another standout, carrying the ball 17 times for 81 yards and scoring a touchdown as well. Wilson also showcased his defensive skills with 1.5 sacks during the game.

The Mountlake Terrace defense played a crucial role, with Cody Ekanayake leading the team with 9 total tackles. Box scores reflect a strong showing across the board, with Nate Brown giving the Hawks a solid receiving option with 5 catches for 60 yards.

Looking ahead, Mountlake Terrace is set to face Monroe on Friday, October 4, at 8 p.m. at Edmonds Woodway High School, while Shorecrest will look to bounce back against Meadowdale earlier that day at 5 p.m.

In other local action, the Meadowdale Mavericks edged out the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors 34-27, improving their league record to 1-2, while the Warriors fell to 0-3. The Shorewood Thunderbirds also had a convincing win over Lynnwood, scoring 49-7.
