In a highly anticipated women’s basketball rivalry revival, the Newberry College Wolves faced the Presbyterian College Blue Hose after an 18-year gap. Unfortunately for Newberry, the game ended with a score of 63-43 in favor of Presbyterian. The Wolves struggled with shooting and rebounding as they aim to regroup and improve in the upcoming games. Their victory improved them to a record of 2 wins and 11 losses, while Newberry now stands at 5 wins and 8 losses, including 4 wins and 5 losses in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). The Wolves struggled to find their shooting rhythm, hitting only 33% from the field and a disappointing 17% from beyond the three-point line.
Despite the loss, there were standout performances worth noting. For Newberry, Jess Thomkins led her team with 15 points and added 4 rebounds to her name. Meanwhile, Presbyterian’s own Kish Anderson put on a dazzling show, recording a game-high 20 points along with 10 rebounds. Not to be outdone, Paige Kindseth also made her mark with a solid double-double, contributing 17 points and 11 rebounds.
