With an impressive start, the local police department, led by Police Chief Kevin Goodman, has already installed 18 cameras, and seven more are in the works!

Duke Jones, who lives close to one of the newly installed cameras on Wise Street, shared his thoughts: “It’s alright; it’s actually a lot more calm and quieter, so I guess it’s okay,” he said with a content smile. Why Surveillance Cameras?

So, what’s the driving force behind this initiative? The primary goal is simple: enhance public safety. Earlier this year, the city council earmarked $150,000 to acquire a total of 48 cameras. Chief Goodman elaborated, “The cameras are doing really well with helping us identify suspects and identified vehicles. It’s helped in intersections with wrecks that we’re having to work, so they’re proven to be really useful and are justifying their investment.”
