NEWBERRY — Excitement filled the air on Monday, September 9, as the Newberry County Touchdown Club hosted its very first meeting this season at the Central United Methodist Church. This gathering was not just any regular meet-up; it was a chance to recognize and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our local student-athletes from Mid-Carolina, Newberry, and Whitmire High Schools.
Under the warm glow of the church’s lights, student-athletes were honored for their impressive performances during the first month of the football season. Among those who took to the stage was Newberry College head football coach Todd Knight, who shared his insights and emphasized the essential values of family, faith, and football. Coach Knight’s words resonated with everyone in attendance and served as a heartfelt reminder of what sports truly mean to our community.
The first wave of admiration went to the students from Mid-Carolina High School. Three remarkable athletes were recognized:
Next up were the stars from Newberry High School, with their own set of shining athletes:
The athletes from Whitmire High School also shined brightly as they received their awards:
Finally, student-athletes from Newberry Academy were also celebrated:
This wonderful evening of recognition reminded everyone just how much dedication, teamwork, and passion our local athletes have for the game. The Newberry community can be proud of its student-athletes, as they continue to inspire both on and off the field. As we dive further into the season, there’s no doubt that we will see even more remarkable achievements from these talented individuals.
