In Game 1, pitcher Natalie Wescott took center stage, delivering a complete game while striking out a whopping eight batters. Talk about an all-star performance! Emma Stone also shone bright, leading the offense with a remarkable 3-for-4 showing, which included 1 RBI and a stolen base. The highlight of the first game was a huge fifth inning where the Wolves scored four runs, thanks to some strategic RBI walks and a little help from a Chowan error.
Game 2 saw the Wolves quickly respond to an early run from Chowan. Emma Stone was at it again, getting an RBI single that tied the game. Maddy Staples also played a key role in this game, scoring two runs with a double in the third inning. To top it all off, Lindsey Foster took the mound, throwing another complete game and striking out another 8 batters while allowing just one run to sneak in. The women’s lacrosse team also added to the thrill, defeating UVA Wise by a close score of 14-12. Their record now stands strong at 4-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the South Atlantic Conference. The next challenge on the horizon is a matchup against Belmont Abbey College on March 5th, and you can bet everyone will be on the edge of their seats!
But wait, there’s more! The men’s and women’s tennis teams couldn’t be left out of the celebration, as they both delivered clean sweeps against Emory & Henry with a commanding 4-0 win for each side.
