This week in Cleveland, high school football teams put their skills on display as they participated in Week 8 of the Northeast Ohio football season. A variety of matchups created an exciting atmosphere across the region.
In the Chagrin Valley Conference, the Hawken Hawks soared to a convincing 50-13 victory over the Orange Lions. Another nail-biter saw Lutheran West narrowly defeat West Geauga with a score of 23-20.
Switching to the Cleveland West Conference, Buckeye dominated Normandy, ending with a remarkable score of 59-13. Meanwhile, North Olmsted edged out Bay with a close 14-10 win, while Rocky River claimed a solid 28-19 victory against Westlake.
The Greater Cleveland Conference saw Strongsville make a statement with a 50-0 rout of Shaker Heights, and Cleveland Heights was relentless against Medina, finishing 44-0.
In the Lake Erie League, Lorain showed impressive skill by defeating Shaw 60-7, capping a strong performance. Maple Heights also shined with a 40-6 victory over Bedford.
Moving to nonconference games, Archbishop Hoban secured a 20-0 win against Glenville, while Gilmour Academy claimed a comfortable 35-7 victory over Brush.
As we look towards next week, teams will be eager to build on these performances. The excitement continues as schools work hard to push their way into the playoffs!
