Pittsburgh High School Sports Heat Up as Teams Prepare for Competitive Matchups
This is an exciting week for high school sports in our city, with a full schedule of basketball, hockey, and wrestling matches lined up. Fans can look forward to some thrilling games on Monday as teams from various classes compete.
Boys basketball kicks off with some notable games. In Class 6A Section 2, Norwin will take on Imani Christian at 7:30 p.m. Over in Class 5A Section 1, Penn Hills faces Franklin Regional, also at 7:30 p.m. The Class 4A Section 1 matchup features Freeport visiting North Catholic earlier at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Class 3A has Carlynton meeting McGuffey at 7:30 p.m., and several other games scheduled including California at Charleroi. More action in the girls’ division includes Penn-Trafford visiting Latrobe at 7:30 p.m.
Hockey fans can mark their calendars as well. On Monday, several exciting games will take place. In Class 3A, Pine-Richland is set to meet Franklin Regional at 6:30 p.m. while Thomas Jefferson will play against Upper St. Clair at 7 p.m.
Freeport will also see action in Class A against Wheeling Park at 6 p.m. Other key hockey games include Mars playing Butler at 7:10 p.m. and Moon facing North Hills later at 9:15 p.m.
Wrestling fans shouldn’t miss out either, as Freedom will go head-to-head with Beth-Center at 7 p.m. This nonsection match promises to be an intense face-off.
