Pottstown Celebrates Hill School’s Undefeated Field Hockey Season

Pottstown, PA – The Hill School field hockey team made a statement on Tuesday night by finishing their season undefeated with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Academy of Notre Dame in the Pa. Independent Schools Athletic Association championship held at Ursinus College. This victory not only crowned them as champions but also marked an impressive milestone as they concluded their season with a perfect record of 22-0.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Katherine Bowie, the Hill School’s journey to the top was especially sweet as they avenged last year’s PAISAA title game loss to Notre Dame, who had beaten them 1-0. The Blues turned up the heat in the second half of the match, scoring four unanswered goals following a competitive first half.

Senior Ella Kaplan from Shaker Heights, Ohio, played a key role in this championship game, scoring two of the four second-half goals. With assistance from sophomore Haley Elliott of Blue Bell, Kaplan netted the goal that put the Blues ahead for good in the third quarter. Soon after, senior Aubrey Turner from Downingtown scored off a corner, which was then followed by another assist from Turner to junior Opal Sparling from Chester Springs, bringing the score to 4-1 in Hill’s favor.

Kaplan capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter, leading her team to secure their second state prep title, following their first win in 2022. This victory, culminating a remarkable and historic season, showcased not only their skill but also their determination and resilience.

With this win, the Hill School field hockey team has solidified its place as the No. 1 team in the nation according to MAX Field Hockey, and as the season concludes, they will surely be remembered for their outstanding achievement and teamwork throughout this remarkable year.
