Seton’s victory brings the school’s total to seven state championships in volleyball, making them one of the most successful programs in Ohio. The Saints had shown strong promise all season, finishing with a record of 26 wins and 2 losses, and were ranked No. 1 in the final poll by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.
In the championship match, several players shone on the court. Charley Moeddel, Callie Combs, and Nattie Slusher each contributed 10 kills, showcasing their offensive prowess. Reagan Miller led the team with 21 assists, while Kirsten Kemper supported with 13 assists of her own. On defense, Grace Jones recorded 15 digs, and Sakura Codling added 14 digs, helping to secure Seton’s victory.
This year’s championship was particularly notable as it marked the 50th annual tournament for the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). With this win, Seton joins two other Greater Cincinnati teams, St. Ursula and Roger Bacon, who also claimed state titles this weekend.
The Saints had a clear path to the finals, defeating Pickerington North in the semifinals with a match score of 25-15, 25-13, 25-20. Seton’s triumph is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and teamwork throughout the season.
