South Carolina Coach Watches as Quarterback Spencer Rattler Makes NFL Debut Against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

South Carolina Coach Proudly Watches Quarterback Spencer Rattler’s NFL Debut

Shane Beamer, the esteemed head coach of the University of South Carolina, has had the privilege of watching the young quarterback, Spencer Rattler, navigate both the highs and lows of his collegiate career. With Beamer’s guidance, Rattler transformed his turbulent starting record at Oklahoma and South Carolina into an impressive range of victories and milestones.

Beamer will now watch as Rattler makes his first NFL start this coming Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rattler will replace Derek Carr while he recovers from an oblique injury expected to sideline him for at least two games.

Rattler’s Journey From Stumbles To Steadfast Success

Rattler faced a challenging start in 2020, with a subpar initial record for Oklahoma, and several high-profile performances including losses to Kansas St. and Iowa St., and being benched during the first half of two consecutive clashes with Texas. Rattler’s response, however, was consistent: he remained unfazed, resolved, and always ready for the next game. According to Beamer, he was as “calm and confident” as a quarterback could be.

This persistent spirit is evidenced strongly in Rattler’s comeback after a poor start in 2020. After being pulled in the initial phases of a game against the Longhorns due to two early turnovers, Rattler returned after three series to astoundingly lead Oklahoma to a win, followed by seven more victories, including a celebrated Cotton Bowl triumph over Florida.

Rattler’s Transition To The NFL

Following his successes in the collegiate football arena, Rattler is transitioning into the NFL. Saints coach Dennis Allen made the decision to have Rattler step in as quarterback, sparking surprise among the public who had viewed Jake Haener as the backup QB to Carr. However, Rattler’s remarkable progress during spring training left fans and critics alike wondering if the Saints had managed to nab a steal in the fifth round.

All eyes will now be on Rattler as he faces the Buccaneers in his first NFL start. Many hope that he will be able to hold his nerve – a quality that became signature during his college days – in his new NFL environment, and perform to his full potential. Coach Beamer expressed confidence in Rattler’s ability, reminding everyone of his fearless mentality. According to Beamer, “Spencer is everything you want a quarterback to be.”

In Other NFL News

In addition to Rattler’s big showcase, other development are underway in the league. For instance, the New York Jets offered Haason Reddick a new deal that the OLB turned down, and Chiefs’ wide receiver Rashee Rice is due for a knee checkup with Dr. Dan Cooper early next week. These developments, and more, are expected to make the coming weeks in the NFL a truly dynamic spectacle.
